I'm a chilled out guy who loves beer, music and laughter. I just shoot weddings to escape my two young kids; Betsy and Albert!

I have a wife and two amazing, [currently small] humans.
I love Star Wars - she does not.
I have a dog.
I enjoy playing video games - specifically FPS - Call of Duty
I wear my cameras on my hips but I am still no closer to becoming a cowboy. :[
I have whittled 2 spoons.

2005
Picked up my first digital camera. I proceeded to fall in love with the level of freedom digital photography gave me. I took my camera with me to Mexico and i haven't stopped shooting ever since.
2010
Got into film photography, shooting on my dad's old camera [Yashica FX-3 for the nerds] and started developing at home and at jessops - where I used to work.
2018
Shot my first ever wedding for a friend. It was her trust that gave me the opportunity I needed. Alex Bates Photography was born from then. I've gone on to shoot many more and absolutely love the joys and creative challenges that this career has afforded me.
