My Approach

I get a lot of comments during and post weddings about how relaxed or chilled out my approach is - I pride myself on this. My aim is to bring something to your day, not detract from it. Weddings can be unpredictable, and obviously emotional, my aim is to capture what is happening without trying to get in the way or shape your day, I am there to document it.

I rarely stage any photos. Unless a client asks for something specific, I like to let the day flow naturally. Yes, I might tell Granny where to stand if you end up choosing some formal photographs, but I'm not going to ask you to "just do that again." for the 12th time. The picture captures a moment in time.

Couple's portraits. The old classic - "We're not comfortable in front of the camera." Who is?

Unless you're models, or actors it takes some adjustment to forget about what is happening. A key part of capturing great photographs is feeling that you can be yourself. This is why it is important to have a connection with the couples I shoot. If you are comfortable, I will capture you far more naturally. We'll sneak off for a short walk whilst your guests are grabbing their seats and with a little bit of movement and some jokes, I'll capture images that are authentically you, images that you'll want to put on your walls.
